Modi is an inland village; however, it is just minutes away by car from the busy Platanias, which is the touristic epicenter of the northern coast of Chania’s prefecture. The mornings in the village are so peaceful; prepare your breakfast, walk out to the beautiful terrace, and revel in the breathtaking view: the sea, the olive trees, the little white Church, and Thodorou island, which is open to the public while on daily excursions. On the island, there is a fortress that once protected Crete, which is now a refuge for wild animals and migratory birds.
